With laboratory design work, there are certain procedures that should be adhered to such as proper airflow and ventilation, some type of monitoring/alarm system in case of a fire or hazardous leak, proper maintenance, and etc. Most of these requirements are required to ensure the safety of others, as well as the equipment. Lab designers should be knowledgeable about all standard requirements and are obligated to assure the safety of the workers. That is also why it is extremely important that the designer and contractor are on the same page when the time comes to the installation of the lab equipment.
